St. John’s Seminary Congratulates Our Rector – Bishop-Elect Trudeau!

April 06, 2018

This morning, the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States announced that Pope Francis has appointed our rector, Msgr. Marc Trudeau, as auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles!

In his own announcement, Archbishop Gomez praised Bishop-Elect Trudeau for his “zeal for service in our diverse and vibrant communities, sharing God’s loving mercy with those most in need.  I believe that his dedication to his priestly ministry and to serving others, along with his pastoral approach, will help us in our mission here in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to share the love of God and the message of Jesus Christ of peace, justice and mercy for all peoples.”

A 1991 graduate of our Seminary, Bishop-Elect Trudeau has been rector since 2014.  He joined the faculty at St. John’s Seminary as Vice Rector and Assistant Director of Pastoral Formation in 2013.

Bishop-Elect Trudeau will be ordained at a special Mass on June 7 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

As our Archbishop said, “This is the beautiful gift that God is giving all of us today — in giving us a new bishop for the family of God here in Los Angeles.”  Please join our seminarians, faculty and staff in congratulating our new Bishop-Elect!
