“Now we have nine new priests for the Archdiocese”June 03, 2018
This is “a day of great thanksgiving,” said Archbishop Jose Gomez as he ordained nine of our Seminary’s new graduates to the priesthood today.
Archbishop Gomez ordained Fathers Egren, Danilo, Gilbert, Ian, Spencer, John, Tommy, Pedro and Matthew during a ceremony at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels this morning. In his message, our Archbishop told them, “My dear brothers, this is a big step you are taking in the footsteps of Jesus…He is sending you out into the world to follow him, to serve him, to be holy as he is holy and to call others to be holy, too.”
Our new Los Angeles priests are among the 14 graduates who will be ordained this year for the dioceses and religious orders served by St. John’s.
St. John’s joins our Archbishop in asking that we all “continue to pray for our new priests…and pray that many more young men will be following in their footsteps. And, let us entrust our new priests and our own lives to our blessed Mother Mary. May she help all of us to open our hearts to the call of God in our lives.”
We are pleased to share a photo of the newly-ordained priests with the Archbishop and bishops, including our own Bishop-Elect Trudeau.
