Congratulations, Graduates!May 15, 2019
Tonight, St. John’s Seminary is conferring Master of Arts in Theology degrees to our 13 transitional deacons. Led by our rector, vice rectors, academic dean and faculty, the evening will begin with a Mass of Thanksgiving, followed by the degree ceremony.
The celebration tonight will include the presentation of certificates for seminarians who have completed our pre-theology program.
Over the next few months, our deacons will be ordained as priests for the Archdiocese and dioceses we serve. The first of these, Deacon Ted Drennan, will have his ordination for the diocese of San Bernardino this coming Sunday, May 18. On Saturday, June 1, Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez will ordain six men – Deacons Emmanuel Delfin, Luther Diaz, Brian Humphrey, Jose Ortiz, Miguel Ruiz and Louis Sung.
This will be followed on June 7 by the ordination of Deacons Jose Aguayo, Gerson Espinosa and Raphael Reniva for the Diocese of Monterey. On July 27, the first Roman Catholic ordination in the newly dedicated Christ Cathedral will be held for Deacons Erialdo Ramirez, Daniel Seo and Martin Vu, as they begin their priestly service for the Diocese of Orange.
Please keep them and all our seminarians in your prayers.
